The Rev. Mary Richerson joined the CBC staff in August of 2019. Prior to her call to Central, she served on staff at several churches in the Richmond area in various positions, including senior pastor, music minister, and student minister. She lives in Midlothian with her three children. She loves watching football, eating a good chili dog, playing the piano, and going to the beach (as often as possible). Mary believes that the mission of the local church is to positively impact the community by sharing God’s love in tangible ways. We can work together to be the presence of Christ!
Leslie Hepburn has been a member of Central Baptist Church since 2016. She joined the CBC staff officially in July of 2019 as the Family Ministry Assistant. She has served and worked with children and youth in various capacities both inside and outside of the church, through Sunday School, bible studies, mission trips, and her time as a Middle School history teacher. She is a graduate of CNU (Go Captains!), an avid reader, wife & mother, and sports fan. Leslie believes children and youth are not only the future of our church but the present, and can live out Christ’s message of love and grace for All people to make a significant impact in our community and the world!
Nicole is a native of Richmond and grew up attending Central Baptist Church. In fact, she was a founding member of the preschool in 1975. Currently, Nicole serves as Financial Administrator for the church where she has worked since 2002. She’s married to Steve and they are very proud parents of two children. In her spare time she enjoys attending her children’s sporting events, exercising, gardening, and spending time with her fur babies! Occasionally, you will find her at the courts playing tennis and pickleball and she has been known to binge watch a Netflix series…or two! Before working at Central, Nicole spent several years in the banking and insurance industries.
Shari Fisher, Administrative Assistant
Shari is a “PK”, Preacher’s Kid, born to a Presbyterian Minister and school teacher, and raised in New Jersey. She is a graduate of The College of New Jersey, and after graduation moved to Philadelphia and began her career in office administration with a brokerage firm. Shari has held positions at The Martin Agency in Richmond and fulfilled a dream of becoming a special education teacher with Chesterfield County. She still helps her husband renovate houses in her free time. Shari and her husband, Bill, just celebrated their 26th anniversary and have been blessed with two amazing children – who are grownups now! The Fishers live in Woodlake and enjoy boating, traveling, eating out, and playing tennis. Shari is very thankful to be a part of the Central Baptist staff.
Meghan Engstran, Interim Minister to Families
B.A. in Political Science from University of Minnesota – Duluth; M.Div from Union Presbyterian Seminary.
The Rev. Meghan Engstran came to Central Baptist in 2017 as ministry intern where she served in this role for a year. Even though she pursued other ministry experiences she found her home in the congregation, joining the church in 2018. Meghan rejoined the ministry staff in 2020 as interim family and youth minister. Meghan enjoys living in Shockoe Bottom where she can explore the canal pathways and eat at local restaurants on the same day. Meghan believes the Church is meant to foster intentional exploration of faith that encourages members to demonstrate the love and acceptance of God to the world.
Melissa West, Director of the Ruby Cashion Preschool at Central Baptist Church
Melissa is a new addition to the CBC family. She has had the privilege of being part of the Ruby Cashion Preschool since 2018. Starting as a teacher of the 4’s class, Melissa has expanded her role within the Preschool as Preschool Director. Together with a team of amazing and creative teachers, she and her staff are committed to providing your family with a loving and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning. She and her husband, Marc, live in Moseley and are raising their 3 amazing children. She enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, running and bike riding with her family. Additionally, she likes crafting and reading a good novel. Melissa believes that play is a child’s most important work. By creating and maintaining a faith based environment, a child can grow and thrive while exploring the world around them.
